Der Text arbeitet mit kurzen Sätzen im Simple Present, an einigen Stellen im Simple Past. Achte auf die Wörter, mit denen man ein Zimmer beschreibt und reklamiert: booking, sea view, balcony, mistake. Achte auch darauf, wie höflich sich alle bleiben, obwohl etwas schiefgeht. Lies erst auf Englisch. Die Übersetzung steht darunter, ist aber zunächst verdeckt.
Lena and her sister Nora travel to the coast. They book a small hotel near the beach. The photos on the website look lovely.
Lena works a lot in spring. Nora studies in another city. They see each other only twice a year, so this week is important.
They arrive in the evening. The hotel is old and white. A cat sleeps in front of the door. "How sweet," Nora says.
The hall is dark and cool. On the wall there are old photos of fishing boats. Somewhere in the house a radio plays music.
The owner gives them a key. "Room nine, first floor," she says. "Breakfast is at eight." The sisters carry their bags up the stairs.
Room nine is small. There is one bed, not two. The window looks at a grey wall. Nora is quiet.
"We booked a room with two beds," Lena says. "And with a sea view." She takes her phone and shows the booking.
The owner is alone in the hotel this week. Her son helps her in summer, but now he is at school. She looks very tired.
They go down again. The owner reads the booking and looks worried. "I am sorry," she says. "I made a mistake."
"All the sea rooms are full tonight," she says. "But tomorrow room three is free. It has a balcony."
Lena is angry for a moment. Then she looks at Nora. Nora only laughs. "One night is one night," Nora says.
The owner brings a second bed and two big towels. She also brings cake and tea. "This is my apology," she says.
They eat the cake on the small bed. Outside they hear the sea, but they do not see it. "Tomorrow," Lena says. Nora nods.
The next day the sisters move to room three. From the balcony they see the sea. Nora opens the window. "Now the photos are true," she says.
